Howelsen Ice Arena

About

Howelsen Ice Arena is the City of Steamboat Springs' indoor Olympic-size rink, offering public skate with no reservation needed, stick and puck, drop-in hockey, and Bumper Cars on Ice. It is home to the Steamboat Springs Youth Hockey Association, the high school Sailors hockey team, and the Steamboat Skating Club. Learn to Skate classes start at age 3 with Tots, Learn to Skate, and Hockey groups, and a short FUN 15 class introduces Basic 3 to 6 skaters to spins, jumps, and performing. Skaters then move into the club's Intro to Figure Skating class and team training. The city posts contacts for licensed private figure skating and hockey coaches, and freestyle sessions are open to skaters at level 4 and up. Summer camps, power skating clinics, curling, sled hockey, skate sharpening, and riveting round out the offerings.
