Joy Burns Arena

About

Joy Burns Arena is the community ice sheet inside the University of Denver's Ritchie Center, operated by DU Recreation. The arena opens its ice to the public for reserved Public Skate sessions held throughout the week, with skate rentals included in admission. DU Recreation also runs Learn to Skate classes, Jr. Pioneers youth hockey, adult hockey leagues, and hockey camps and clinics, and it sells punch passes that cover public ice programs. Special events have included a Noon Year's Eve skate on December 31 that welcomes first-time skaters and offers skate aids for beginners. Because all public ice sessions require an online reservation, families should book ahead before driving to campus. The arena sits within the Ritchie Center, DU's main athletics and recreation complex.
